Shahid, Genelia cooped up in a car

With little over a week remaining for their film Chance Pe Dance to hit the theatres, Shahid Kapoor and Genelia D’Souza are prepped up to promote the Ken Ghosh-directed film.

And it’s not going to be the usual yawn-inducing promotion limited to public appearances with glib articulations by stars about how “challenging” their roles were in the movie, or how “different” the story is.

Bah! Nothing of that sort. Shahid and Genelia are rather going to do something no other stars in Bollywood have done before. Something that’s gonna draw much attention. They are going to live in a car for a whole night at a hotspot in Mumbai.

In the movie, Shahid plays an aspiring actor who lives in a car in his struggling days. No wonder, the film’s presenters UTV Motion Pictures came up with the idea of actually playing out the gimmick to promote the flick.

Shahid is pretty kicked about the idea of being cooped up in a car with Genelia to promote the film. He says the gal is fun to be with.

In case you are wondering, the two just won’t disappear behind the closed doors and tinted glasses of the car. They would be exposed to the onlookers.

The Chance Pe Dance Music Review

Shahid Kapoor is back with Chance Pe Dance that too with his jelly feet. Ken Ghosh’s latest film is about music and dance. His last two movies Ishq Vishk and Fida both were musical hits. We hope ‘Chance Pe Dance’ is able to create the same magic.

Adnan Sami, who after Lucky hasn’t delivered a single hit, composes most of the tunes, though the album has other composers too - Ken Ghosh and Sandeep Shirodkar. Let’s see what the trio has to offer?

Hear this particular song on full volume. Pump it up is an astounding number in the voice of Vishal Dadlani. High on energy and adrenaline pumping beats, it instantly sets your foot tapping and leg shaking. And when it’s picturised on Shahid Kapoor, what else one can expect. Hil jayegi zameen.

This one fails to impress. Rishta Hai Mera, though heavy on music, is dull, and the worst part is Tulsi Kumar’s vocals. Shaan is usual but this song doesn’t offer him much to do.

Sung by Kunal Ganjawala, Yaba Daba Yahoo has a retro feel. Picking the word ‘Yahoo’ from the famous Shammi Kapoor song, ‘Yaba Daba Yahoo’ sets you twisting, even if you have two left feet. Best for a party, maza aa jayega!

Just Do It is a ‘good’ hip hop number with traditional tadka. It’s a kewl, but a short musical piece. Amit Kumar’s warbling does the justice to the song. High on electronic dance music and pumped with energy, One More Dance makes for a terrific dance number. Ready to have a blast?

In the beginning it sounds like a soft romantic number, but later it changes its track. Pal Mein Hi could have been a good memorable track if not infused with not-so-essential beats, Shreya Ghosal and Soham have done an okay job.

The same shehnai tune but this is not a song from Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani , instead this number created by Pritam was for ‘Chance By Dance’. Pe Pe Mein also features Hard Kaur.

Except some, most of the songs of the film have nothing different to offer. Loud and zingy! Adnan Sami is good for his own albums, but his caliber for situational tracks for films is questionable.

A struggler living out of a car faces odds galore on the path to realize his long cherished dream of becoming a star. Though buffeted by repeated failure, he’s not one to throw in the towel. All he needs is a chance to prove his mettle. Will he get that break?

Starring Shahid Kapoor in the lead role and the lovely Genelia D'Souza as his love interest and comforter, Chance Pe Dance is a triumph-of-the-spirit tale with a sprinkling of romance and humour.

The film is directed by Ken Ghosh, who introduced Shahid to Bollywood with his 2003 movie Ishq Vishk. In fact, it’s believed that ‘Chance Pe Dance’ borrows liberally from Shahid’s personal struggle to make a toehold in B-town.

Shahid Kapoor as Sameer
Young and positive, Sameer is full of energy and passion, extremely talented and hardworking, he is single minded in his goal to be an actor. Despite the many hurdles he faces in his struggle, Sameer does not lose heart and carries on undeterred, but never forgetting to stand up for his loved ones when needed - even if it means risking his dream.

Genelia D'Souza as Tina
Spirited, beautiful, responsible and fiercely independent, Tina strongly stands by her principles and beliefs - refusing to compromise on them in any situation. A crucial support system to Sameer, Tina's bubbly and vivacious demeanor helps Sameer get over many of the disappointments that he goes through in his struggle.

Synopsis

‘Chance Pe Dance’ is a story of a talented and passionate guy named Sameer. Positive and brimming with energy, Sameer juggles various jobs to keep him afloat while pursuing his one dream - to get a break on the big screen!

In his quest, Sameer has a lot of ups and down, hopes and disappointments. Not the one to be disillusioned and armed with a 'Never-Say-Die' attitude and dynamic talent, Sameer fights every hurdle that comes his way because achieving your biggest dream is never easy.

In this challenging journey, he is helped by a beautiful and spirited choreographer Tina.

Eventually, Sameer realizes that sometimes life gives you that one chance...Toh...'Chance pe Dance'!
